The Kennedy Career-Technical Education department and Michelle Christenson as teacher has unveiled a new product - Kennedy Impact. The new magazine-style TV show is being broadcast on BEC-TV and it has been over ten years that a TV production from Kennedy has been available for Bloomington cable subscribers to view. This production is being produced in addition to the Kennedy Update daily news show which is produced to connect the student body with the school and its many activities.

The production benefited from a strong support from Bloomington Education Cable (BEC-TV) and its executive director, Tom Ringdal. Ringdal helped engineer a revamp of the TV studio and control room increasing the capacity, efficiency and technical flexibility of the station. A new set was designed and community partners donated to the new venture. IKEA furniture donated the chairs, Slumberland donated the set's coffee table, Home Depot offered the wood laminate flooring, Bushard Photography donated digital images, and FedExKinko's donated enlargements of the digital images.

It is the intent of the executive production team that the show would offer stories and insights into the life and culture of not only Kennedy High School, but also the stories of East Bloomington. The school is grateful to the generosity of the community and the persistance of the executive production team to solve the numerous technical challenges. The show should be a value-added asset to the school!

Kennedy Update is a daily news production that informs the school community of daily information, schedules, inspiration, and recognition of academic and athletic successes. The 9-minute show is written, field-edited, produced, directed, taped, and broadcast by students. All classrooms are outfitted with TV monitors and the broadcast is delivered to the rooms via cable.
