Bloomington's
all-day preschool program
to host open house

An open house/information night to learn more about the Bloomington
Public Schools' Early Learners Academy will be held at 6:30 p.m.
on Thursday, Feb. 7 in the Poplar Bridge Elementary School library.
The Early Learners Academy is designed to meet the needs of working
families who need full-day child care and desire an early education
experience for their three-, four-, or five-year-old child. The
district has three all-day preschool programs, including full year
classes at Poplar Bridge, 8401 Palmer Ave., and Ridgeview Elementary
School, 9400 Nesbitt Ave., and a 10-month program at Ridgeview.
The district is also exploring expanding the program as interest
grows.
Parents will have an opportunity to meet the Early Learners Academy
teachers, see the schools and classrooms, and review the program's
activities.
"We encourage families who wish to begin an early relationship
with Bloomington Public Schools to explore the possibility of the
Early Learners Academy," said Wendy Webster, ELA coordinator. "Children
are in the care of nurturing instructors who provide small group
learning opportunities and focus on a child's social and emotional
development."
Webster said the ELA programs, which limit enrollment to 20 students
per class, prepare children for kindergarten and helps them become
comfortable with the school environment.
