| Bloomington student chosen for US Senate Youth Program
Feb. 2, 2010
Bloomington's Iman Fears is one of two Minnesotans chosen to be a delegate to the 48th Annual to be held March 6-13, in Washington, D.C.
Fears is a former student in Bloomington Public Schools’ Dimensions Academy program for profoundly gifted students and attended Jefferson High School for a year before transferring to the St. Paul Conservatory for the Performing Arts.
Fears and Hahn Chang of Maple Grove were chosen from hundreds of applicants who were judged on their academic excellence and commitment to community.
Each year this competitive merit-based program brings 104 of the most outstanding high school students in the country for a week-long study of the federal government and the American political process. Each delegate also receives a $5,000 scholarship from the Hearst Foundation, which also covers all of the transportation and expenses for Washington Week. |
