Tamra Sieve, director of adult learning for South Hennepin Adult Programs in Education is Minnesota’s top community educator for 2009.
The Minnesota Community Education Association honored Sieve with the award that recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of community education. SHAPE is a consortium that serves the communities of Bloomington, Edina, Eden Prairie and Richfield.
Sieve has led the adult English as a Second Language, diploma, volunteers, and Adult with Disabilities programs since 2006. She also serves as the principal of the Under 21 Diploma program, SHAPE’s alternative high school.
Sieve’s leadership is credited with helping SHAPE become one of the most respected adult learning programs in the state. SHAPE has one of the highest adult student achievement rates in the state, surpassing the state averages for adult learners.
“Tamra has done an outstanding job of leading her team to a ranking that exceeds the state average in all categories, and has us at or near the top for all large education consortiums” said Tom Holton, executive director of Bloomington’s Community Education Department, which oversees SHAPE. |
