Oct. 29, 2009

Three Bloomington High School students have been named semifinalists in the 55th annual National Merit Scholarship Program for 2010. Kennedy’s Peter Schuster and Jefferson’s Grant Abrams and Grace Kroner will now be in the running for one of the merit scholarship awards that will be offered next spring.

More than 1.5 million juniors in about 22,000 high schools entered the 2010 National Merit Program by taking the preliminary SAT/National Merit scholarship qualifying test, which served as an initial screen of program entrants.

Another 8 high school students earned National Merit Commended Student status, which recognizes exceptional academic promise demonstrated by a student's performance on the qualifying test used for program entry. The Bloomington commended students include Kennedy's Molly Bostrom; and Jefferson’s Samantha Feulner, Carissa Henke, Sarah Marti, Jacob McNaughton, Lauren Murphy, Sara Olstad and Jacob Sandry.
