Bloomington's Evening of Excellence

to combine two events

Bloomington's Evening of Excellence will combine two senior recognition events into one elegant School District event.

The Bloomington Evening of Excellence will showcase the Bloomington School District’s excellence in the arts, academics, civic leadership or volunteerism, leadership and curricular excellence in a specific field of study. The event will combine two events: the Senior Achievement Recognition Reception and the Top 10 Percent Reception. Previously both Thomas Jefferson High School and John F. Kennedy High Schools were recognized at SARR and the Top 10 Percent. SARR was a community event and Top 10 percent was a School Board recognition event. The Bloomington Board of Education and Bloomington businesses sponsor the Bloomington Evening of Excellence. 

Nearly 200 seniors will be selected from the submitted nominations to be the guests of honor at Bloomington’s Evening of Excellence on Tuesday, April 17th.  Parents, teachers, community members or the senior may submit a nomination.  Parents are encouraged to nominate their child.

Faculty representatives from each high school and community members will review nominations. 

“Excellence” does not always mean the “best.” It does mean excelling beyond normal expectations.  It means contributions were made to the school and/or community.

Kennedy High School will continue to recognize the best of Kennedy High School at the annual Kennedy High School Evening of Excellence in May.

Extra nomination forms are available at both high schools, on the District website, www.BloomingtonSchools.info, and the School-Community Relations Office. Nomination deadline is Friday, Feb. 23 at noon, without exception.  Invitations will be mailed in March.  For more information, call Christine Dufour at 952-681-6404.
