Arlene Bush receives top MSBA honor
Jan. 19, 2010
Bloomington Board of Education member Arlene Bush received the School Board Member of Distinction Award by the Minnesota School Boards Association (MSBA) at its annual leadership conference last week.
The first-of-its-kind award recognizes Bush for attending more than 1,000 hours of training, advocacy programs and conferences through MSBA. It is MSBA’s highest honor.
Bush has been on the Bloomington Board of Education since 1981, and is the second longest serving school board member at 29 years. She was recently elected to another term last year.
“Arlene’s commitment to doing the job of a school board member correctly sets an example for her students that you can never stop learning,” said Katie Klanderud, MSBA’s director of board development.
Klanderud said Bush works hard on her local board, regularly attends MSBA’s annual conference to seek training, is involved in the Delegate Assembly to help advocate for students, and is involved in the Insurance Trust.
“She walks the walk, and we couldn’t be more proud to honor her as an example of what every school board member can be,” said Klanderud. |
