2010-11 School Year Calendar

Minnesota Statute 120A.40 prohibits all school districts from beginning school prior to Labor Day. It is possible that the Legislature will consider legislation in the upcoming session to change the statute and allow districts to begin school
prior to Labor Day.

In an attempt to plan for the possibility of a starting date before or after Labor Day, Bloomington Public Schools has developed two calendars (see attached):

Calendar A meets the requirement of starting school after Labor Day

Calendar B has a proposed starting date of September 1.

The School Board has formally adopted Calendar A. However, Calendar B will be implemented if the Legislature acts on or before March 12, 2010, to change Minnesota Statute 120A.40.
