Food
Services
All
Bloomington Public Schools serve lunch and
breakfast every day.
Our food service program has been
a leader in serving nutritious
meals. Each day, our
kitchens prepare and serve more than 7,000 lunches and
1,500 breakfasts to students and staff in all of our
schools.
Menus
are handed out monthly for grades K-8. They are posted in all
schools, available through B-Link Cable network and on this website (click on Menus, located on the left side of this page). The district Food Service
Office also has menus available for pick up. A menu analysis of nutrients provided monthly is printed on each month's menu. Often the nutrients exceed the USDA requirements and the calories from fat are limited. Menu analysis is accomplished with a nutritional software program called NutriKids.
Breakfast
plays an important part in providing children the fuel they need
to learn. A breakfast, from either home or school, has been shown
to have a positive effect on student performance. School breakfast
is served 20 to 30 minutes before school starts. Those who qualify
for free or reduced price lunch also qualify for free breakfast.
