Bloomington's five-star schools give parents what they want

In 2005-2006, Bloomington had nine five star schools rated by the Minnesota Department of Education and was awarded the "What Parent's Want" award. 

Beyond the stars and awards, Bloomington schools are committed to showing results through personalized learning.

  • Four National Merit Honor Finalists named
  • U.S. Senator Mark Dayton honored Jefferson High School with an Award for Excellence in Education. He presented the school with a flag that had flown over the U.S. Capitol.
  • U.S. Senator Mark Dayton honored Oak Grove Elementary with an Award for Excellence in Education. He presented the school with a flag that had flown over the U.S. Capitol.
  • Washburn Elementary student won national language contest with perfect score in WordMasters Challenge.
  • Adapted Athletics won state honors in floor hockey and softball, and coach named Mn. Coach of the Year by peers.
  • Five Bloomington seniors earned National Merit Scholarships - top 1/2 of 1% of the nation's students.

Achievements of our students also can be measured by their charitable activities--Tsunami Victim Funds, diabetes walks, food drives, walks for ALS and many others. All of which support the District's Mission Strategy #6 --  teaching Core Ethical Values.
